by Danny on May 6, 2010

Ok this is a long ass title so I hope it captured your attention. I find it somewhat funny how peeps making a living in social media go out of their way not to claim themselves as social media experts. Here are some interesting titles of social media “experts” I have found along my way.

  2. Social Media Nut
  3. Conversation Strategist This by far is my favorite WTF is a conversation strategist? Google it. Extra points for originality

  49. Social Media Success Coach
  50. Social Media Pioneer
  51. Social Media Adviser

Ok I know I said 50 but I threw in one more for kicks, I actually could go on with more but getting tired, maybe there will be  part two.

This is all in fun and I love all my “Social Media” friends and no social media experts where hurt in the making of this article. (none that I know of anyways)

I have yet to come across any social media pimps, come on I know there is a social media pimp out there, lets hear from you! Who is your social media daddy?

Ok we know you are not a social media expert, so to all my social media peeps what title do you give yourself? is it any of the above mentioned titles? Come on Chris Brogan you have to be a social media expert right?

Well Mr. Danny, I call myself a Social Media Strategist. Expert? Guru? Me? Not at all! How can anyone be an expert in something that is changing each and every day. Strategist is a good term because I am always strategizing new ways to use these awesome tools for myself and my clients. I guess I could be a researcher too hehe :)

What’s wrong with saying you’re a social media expert anyways? I’m new to social media so should I say I’m a social media amateur?

Well I think Justin Bieber’s marketing team did pretty well on Twitter! Kudos to them for that despite how much you hate his/her singing…

Social media and networking is a great way to expand the reach of your site or blog. If you link all your social networking profiles together you can really look like an expert.

Hi Danny,

Very funny post and I think you covered just about every possible name. It seems to me that these days there are a lot of social media evangelists as well as doubters.

I don’t like labels but if I had to have a social media kind of name I think it would be social media explorer. I’m still not sure about the ROI of it all so I tread lightly and certainly avoid any preaching about it either way.

Really funny post. Yeah, people are experts just for anything they say. Who’s there to stop them? There ins’t any online police to check them out.

Funny post indeed, but really worth the second thought, you shouldn’t call yourself a guru or what even , you build it and others name you what you deserved.

I love the post. I call myself The Social Media Bloke because I come from a land Downunder, and not, as you say, Britain. So it matches my heritage if you like and I agree, you cannot be called an expert in this field as it changes on a daily basis. So in Australia, if you want something done, you go to the ‘bloke’ who can do it for you..that just happens to be Me in social media :)

This is very strange media where strategic planning always remains in growth. One has to make his planning according to the planning happening over the globe.

Great collection of tools in Twitter. I am trying to increase my followers list but when buzzom stopped their bulk unfollow functionality I had a hard time. Thanks for this, I found an alternative.
