Airlines charge for second checked bag

by ray_b on May 5, 2008

Starting today United Airlines will start charging most of its customers $25 to check a second bag. Currently there are seven airlines charging this fee Continental Airlines, Delta, ExpressJet, Northwest, Skywest, United Airlines, and US Airways. The list will soon grow by two when American Airlines start charging $25 on May 12, and Jetblue starts charging $20 on June first.

The airlines said the business decision is tied to offset extra fuel costs.

And it just keeps getting worse, this is an older post but shows how the airlines are struggling to do anything they can to make an extra buck.

It seems to be a general trend. Airlines will always try to find additional ways to make more money. Another sign showing how the airline industry is struggling!
