If you have already started your business but need more money to get things moving you can look into getting cash advances. Most people who start up their own businesses do not have the money to get them started completely. Or those who were able to start up their business are sometimes not able to keep up with expenses. In these cases you need to either save up money until you can start your business or you can start now and get a business loan or cash advance. So which one should you get? What are the differences between small business loans and cash advances?

There are differences between small business loans and cash advances; one such difference is that one of them is a loan and the other is not. Here are descriptions of both business loans and cash advances, along with the ups and downs of each one:

Small business loans. When a person decides to start their own business and they need some money they can apply for a small business loan. The small business loan will not be granted based on the status of your business. A small business loan will be granted based on your personal finances and the status of those finances. Banks deny somewhere close to 90% of business loan applications because of things like bad credit or insufficient time as a business owner. Basically business loans require security, good credit, and a long business history.

Cash advances. A cash advance is something that is provided by many credit card issuers. Cash advances are for those who have already started their business. Cash advances are quicker than business loans because they don’t have as many formalities and requirements. In order to get a business cash advance your business must be registered and established and you need to have proof of monthly revenue. Cash advances do not have fixed payments, a percentage of the credit card sales you make with go to the lender. It is much easier to get a cash advance approved than getting a small business loan approved.

Cash advances are becoming more and more popular however; a cash advance can’t help you with a start-up company. Business loans have more restrictions and are harder to obtain but they can help with start-up companies as long as you have good credit and your other finances are in order.

I have been using RingCentral for years; first with their mobile version and now with their office version. There are so many features with this telephone system I don’t know where to begin but will give it a try.

800 number - Having a toll free number where your customers can contact you establishes you as a serious business even if you are a small business it gives you the impression of being a large company.

Toll Free fax number – The toll free fax wasn’t something I even considered using when I first started with Ring Central but is probably one of their best features that I now use all the time. What is great about the toll free fax number is when someone sends a fax to the number it will convert the fax to a pdf file and you can then open the file from your email account anywhere you may be. You don’t have to go to your office to retrieve faxes any longer. I also use it as scanner becomes it essentially provides the same result.

Free unlimited long distance calls – You can call long distance anywhere in the US and Canada with unlimited long distance calling

Call forwarding – You can control where your calls are going at any time. If you going to be on the road and want to have all calls forward to your cell phone you can easily do this in the control panel.

Dial by name directory – The dial by name directory is another great feature. Setup your employees own extensions and the message panel will provide callers with options to who they want to speak with.

Website click to call buttons -Just a little copy and paste script into your website and you can have RingCentral have websites customers contact you directly from your website.

Email notifications – You may control email notifications, you can have them sent to your email when you have a missed call or voicemail.

Multiple lines tracking different divisions or websites – Do you have different departments or divisions well you can add multiple phone numbers so you can track where someone is calling from different advertising campaigns etc.

Flexibility – RingCentral is a cloud based phone system that can easily be transferred anywhere you want.

Professional greetings – Have that professional office feel with professional voice over greetings (additional cost for professional voices.)

Control after hour calls - You can direct what to do with after hour calls.

Block unwanted calls – Have unsolicited calls that keep calling? You can block unwanted numbers from getting through.

No contract – RingCentral is a monthly subscription where you can cancel at any time.

No matter how small your business ring central makes your business look professional when customers are calling, and we all know how important first impressions are.

Try RingCentral Fax FREE for 30 days

There are many reasons why people fall into the “bad credit” range, but in light of the current economic state, it’s becoming more common and fortunately, many lenders are more forgiving of poor credit than ever before. This doesn’t mean you should not try to repair it as soon as possible however. Those with better credit generally face less fees and lower interest rates when buying cars and other things which you may need a loan of financial assistance to afford.

First it’s important to know what your credit score is. This may be the most frightening part for people who know their credit isn’t great but have too afraid to get a specific number. Remember, it’s better to know so that you can find out what debts you owe and begin formulating a plan to repay them. Credit scores range from 300-850. Naturally, the higher your score on this scale, the better your credit. Most lenders classify a credit score as “good” when it falls somewhere between 720 and 850, a score is “average” when it is 660-720 and “poor” if it is 300-660.

Once you have established where you fall on that scale, you can begin formulating a plan to increase your score. Here are three basic tips for building your credit back up, but it will take some time to see results. Patience is necessary to get out from underneath any overwhelming financial circumstance, so take it easy and follow the steps necessary to make a change in your financial credit rating.

1. Pay off your outstanding debts each month, but be consistent about keeping a bank account, savings account and other bills paid on time.
Make a conscious effort to pay off the debts you can afford to as quickly as possible. If you have credit card debt that is going into default, then contact the company directly. They will let you make arrangements and payments and they may even offer you a discount on your payment totals. If they have not begun a charge off of the account, try not to let it go to a collection agency. This will save this being a further report against your credit rating.

2. Keep paying your current credit cards on time, so that it is reported regularly to the three major credit bureaus.
The best advice is to probably stop using credit cards altogether at this point, but at least keep one for emergencies. When you show a history of making purchases (they can be small) and then paying them off right away, this can begin to help to rebuild your credit. Do not pay bills off with your credit cards and do not take cash advances on them. It may be a good idea to cut up all unnecessary cards, pay off the account balances over time and be done with them. This way you will be able to resist the urge to buy unnecessary things if you still have room before hitting your credit limit. Payments made on time will add to your positive credit rating and look good to other financial institutions.

3. Consider a secured credit card.

If you want to reestablish some of your lost credit, then a secured credit card is one of the best things to consider. A secured credit card has limited funds access and is based on real money that has been allocated to it, there will only be that amount to pay off if you have to use it. By paying if off regularly you then replenish the amount and have it to use again. Once you are at this point, you should also consider opening a new savings account and begin making regular deposits into it. Even small deposits will eventually start to build some real cash in your accounts again.

Most importantly, don’t lose heart. Everyone faces financial difficulties at one time or another. With some dedication and hard work, you will be able to rebuild your credit again and will find it becomes easier to pay your normal bills, like car insurance and home insurance, in no time.

Hire a high school student. This is coming from someone who worked at an office in high school and loved her job. Contact a public or private school in your area, and ask if they would be interested in sharing a part-time paid job opportunity with their students. It could be a file clerk position, a personal assistant position, an office worker position, or even a small-time sales or customer service position. You’ll be surprised at the untapped pool of talent available to you – most students would jump at the chance to leave a retail or fast food job to work in an office and build their resume.

Start an internship. Starting a landscaping business? Find out which colleges or universities in your area offer business management or landscape design degrees, and reach out to the college job office. Often, class credit will be accepted in lieu of payment, but offering a stipend or monthly wage can help you tap into the best talent. Even if they work only 5 or 10 hours a week, an intern can save you huge amounts of money on wages that would be needed for an older, more experienced employee.

Never buy new office equipment. When you’re shopping for equipment, always ask if there’s an option to buy used, or to rent. If you get nowhere, make the move to hang up the phone or leave, and chances are the salesperson will suddenly remember equipment or furniture that someone recently returned, unused. Also, for larger equipment, leasing is an usually an option. You can save the $5000 you might spend on a brand new machine and rent the copier instead. That way, more of your capital can be spent on growing profit instead of covering administrative expenses.

Hire independent contractors. The IRS states that you do not have to withhold or pay taxes on independent contractors, which can save your business money. Be aware that there are certain details that have to apply; for instance you cannot pay an independent contractor based on hours worked; only on the job completed. But keep in mind that when your company begins to grow, you should consider long-term staff options like salaried or full-time employees who are fully dedicated to your company.

Use website discount codes. GoDaddy is one of the more popular places to buy website hosting packages, and they’re always running discount campaigns. Before you buy, do a quick Google search for “GoDaddy coupon codes” and you’ll find tons of ways to save on your domain and on the hosting package. Twitter is also another great resource for up to date discount codes. Before you buy a hosting package, compare between different companies… you don’t want to lock into a three-year hosting package that you could have gotten cheaper elsewhere.

Hire a college student to design your site. Does HTML scare you? Don’t want to read a book about Dreamweaver? Put down the bottle of Tylenol – it doesn’t have to be frustrating or expensive to launch a website. Reach out to college job offices in your area, which are always receptive to job postings for their students. Offer to pay a flat fee for a student to design your website.

Cut down the cost of communication. If you plan on making enough phone calls to justify a phone system, try out VoIP instead of a regular phone system. Broadband Internet is used for voice over IP calling instead of a standard phone line. The cost for VoIP phone service is a flat rate month to month, compared to a standard phone system which can add up for each call.

Furnish your office at Ikea. File cabinets, desks, chairs, tables, and storage fixtures cost far less at Ikea than at office furniture stores. Your clients and customers will appreciate your modern style! This is also a great opportunity to throw a furniture-building party for your ten closest friends (make sure to stock up on snacks and drinks!)

Starting your own business doesn’t have to be expensive, and there are tons of ways out there to save on everyday expenses. By networking with successful business owners in your industry (via social media and in real life), you’ll find out how others are saving money – so you can reallocate funds to the profitable tasks

Jobs are hard to find, and job security is generally pretty shaky, with a lot of people still getting laid off.

Believe it or not, this is actually a perfect time to go back to school and earn your degree. Going to school while jobs are scarce means that by the time the economy has improved and jobs are easier to find, you will have a shiny new degree to give you an advantage over other, non-degreed applicants.

The biggest challenge is, of course, juggling work and school during a down economy. Finding work in the current economy is often hard enough when you don’t have schedule around classes and make sure you leave enough time for homework, in addition to your family responsibilities. There are a few ways to help you get around this problem:

•	Take online classes or correspondence courses. Online classes give you remarkable freedom, enabling you to work on your degree on your own time. Since you can log into your class and work on coursework at any time of the day or night, you won’t have to ask for special scheduling at work. If access to an Internet connection is a problem for you, you may be able to use the computers at the public library, or find correspondence classes that don’t depend quite as heavily on a regular Internet connection.

•	Get financial assistance. There are many financial assistance programs for students. The government will give financial assistance based on need, which is judged by your household income. You may also be able to get scholarships that will help you pay for tuition and your living expenses. There are lots of scholarships available that no one claims every year, so you just have to be diligent in finding them.

•	Work from home, part or full time. Working from home is another solution that makes it easier to schedule classes. This could range from working a regular part-time job and simply supplementing it with work you do from home, or getting a full-time job that lets you work from home and on your own schedule as long as you clock your hours every week. Another solution is to be your own boss: Providing child care, running errands, cleaning houses, and doing landscaping are all things you can do on a contract basis, which allows you to make your own schedule.

•	Get a job through your school’s work program. Most colleges have a department that helps students find jobs and internships. The employers you find through these programs will often be much more willing to work with your school schedule than other employers. You may even be able to find a job on or around campus, which will simplify your daily commute.

Even if it takes a little financial finagling, going back to school to earn your degree is well worth your while. It’s no coincidence that college enrollment has been up the last few years, ever since the recession started: When jobs get to be difficult to find, a lot of people naturally turn to education, whether to further their existing career or to change careers. It may be tough to put yourself through school during a recession, but when you finish your degree you will be able to find better job security — and a better job — than you could have if you hadn’t gone back to school.

You glance at it and a smile comes to your face as you remember how much you danced in it prom night. Your cap, gown and tassel are now your high school trophies. It’s time to face the real world and move to college. If you’ve got your mind set that you’ll be heading out to the dorms or moving into an apartment off campus, make sure you bring along everything that you need to avoid feeling homesick. Before you start imagining yourself running around completely out of control during those crazy college nights drinking and having an awesome time with your roommates, lets check off all the do’s and don’ts. What has to stay and what you have to take. The first thing you should know is your college dorm’s guidelines. You don’t want to get banned from college life so don’t take anything you know you’re not supposed to. Obviously your dorm should have a bed so that’s not needed but what about closet space or extra drawers or a desk? If you know you’re going to need to take some furniture you’ll probably have to hire help like movers in seattle to get your furnishings there safely. Call your RA (resident assistant) just to make sure you can take certain items before you actually contract and pay a seattle moving service.

So you won’t be sharing your room with your sister anymore but your new roommate may turn out to be just as trustworthy and fun. It’s not likely you’ll meet before so you’ll have to get acquainted the same day you move in. Certain things can be discussed as far as sharing the T.V, DVD, or other electrical appliances. You may also want to discuss that study nights are not party nights. The best thing to do to get along from the start, is setting rules and abiding by them. You don’t want to have to live with a grumpy person or mistrust them when you “can’t find something”. You’ll be sharing this space with your roommate all semester so it’s better to get off on the right foot. OK so lets start filling up those boxes with important things like your computer and headphones in case your roomy’s the love silence type, your cell phone, toiletries, towels, sheets, bed covers, sandals to shower in because remember you’ll be sharing a bathroom and we have to be as safe and as clean as possible. Personal documents like your social security card, bank account info in case of an emergency and you need an ATM machine. What if the financial aid department needs help? You’ll need these documents to fill out the job application. Bring a coffee machine. What are you going to do if it’s 3am and your cramming and craving for a latte but the cafeteria closed at 12? A little brewing in your room won’t harm anyone. You may also consider then bringing a small fridge in case you get the same desire but for something refreshing and cool to boost your thoughts when your analyzing Chemistry 101. Laundry, can’t state enough how important it’ll be to have clean clothes so take along some detergent, coins for the washing machine and a basket.

Well we’ve pretty much covered some important take alongs but remember to call in first and go over your dorm’s guidelines just to make sure you don’t end up having to send back half the stuff you brought along. College, just like high school, is one of the most important stepping stones in life. Yeah there’s a lot of rules and regulations and yes and no’s but these standard procedures are what’ll turn you into an incredible adult. Enjoy your dorm and college life and after graduation hang your cap, gown and tassel as they too will become your newest trophies.

Because your home is your living space, it’s filled with creature comforts, chores, and other things that accompany your daily life. It’s not really meant to be a workspace. If you work from home; however, you must convert one part of your home into a workspace so you can avoid the distraction that call from the other aspects of your life. There’s laundry to do. There’s television to watch. There’s the internet to play around on. All of these things will do their best to keep you from getting your work done.

The first thing you should do in order to make your home work-friendly is to create a physical workspace devoted to your professional work. Just like a bed is made for sleeping, so should a workspace be made for work. You’ll need a comfortable chair, a useful desk space, your computer, and any other office supplies. Don’t include a television in your workspace. Don’t include a comfortable reading chair. Of course, it shouldn’t be completely austere; you still want to be comfortable, so feel free to personalize it. Just make sure that as you create the space, you constantly ask yourself, “Is this going to help me get my work done?”

Next, you should establish a daily routine and follow that routine! Wake up early, just as you would if you were driving to the office. Take a shower and dress in appropriate clothes. You can dress down a bit, but consider this: wear what you would need to wear to appear presentable should you be called into an emergency meeting or meet a client for coffee. Work four hours in the morning, take your lunch, then work through the afternoon. Stop at 5pm. You want your routine to mimic as much as possible the office routine. Anything different will make your brain wonder what exactly it’s supposed to be doing. After all, we are creatures of habit.

Finally, when you work from home, you must be twice as good at communicating with your supervisor than you were at the office. Always be prepared to contact him or her or field his or her emails and telephone calls. Likewise, if you’re self-employed, you’ll want to be easy to contact so that your clients know that you’re on the job. By making yourself available, you can convince your supervisor and your clients that you are, indeed, self-sufficient and capable of getting things done when you’re at home. If you turn out to be a great worker when you’re at home, you’ll be able to reap the rewards of not commuting, eating lunch at home, and being comfortable in your workspace.

Yet, it is important that you do not just forgot about your policy. When you made your first inquiries about home insurance, you may have had many choices to make regarding deductibles, types of coverage and various other issues. However, things change as time passes and you want to be sure that your insurance coverage is always adequate for your current situation. Therefore, it is imperative that you re-evaluate your policy often.

Monitor Policy Changes Made by the Insurance Company

The Insurance Information Institute advises reconsidering your insurance policy at least yearly and any time that major changes occur. When you receive your yearly renewal notice from your insurance company, check for any changes the company has made, and determine if they may have an effect on your situation.

Lower or Raise Your Deductible to Suit Your Needs

If your financial condition has improved since you took out your insurance policy, you may want to lower your deductible amount so you would get a greater benefit in the event that you should submit a claim. However, you may need to increase your deductible amount to lower your premium.

Add Replacement Value to Your Policy

If you currently do not have replacement value insurance, consider adding it to your policy. If your insurance covers only the depreciated value of your personal possessions, you will not receive enough compensation from a claim to replace them. You may think that they are not worth much, but if you had to replace them all at once,it would be difficult without adequate insurance.

Include Major Home Improvements or Expensive Possessions

When you make major improvements or additions to your home, its value increases, that should be reflected in your insurance policy.Likewise, if you purchase or receive expensive or valuable items, you
can get an endorsement for them or raise the amount of your insurance for personal possessions.

Prepare for Basement Flooding

If your basement was unfinished when you took out your homeowners policy but now it is finished, you should check your policy to be sure your flood insurance is adequate. You may need to purchase arider to
cover basement flooding if that is not part of your current policy.

Get Additional Liability Coverage when Necessary

Lifestyle changes can require changes in insurance policies as well. If you choose to operate a business from your home, you may need additional insurance for your products or equipment as well as business liability. Similarly, if you have acquired a dog considered potentially dangerous, you may need to have additional liability coverage.

Adapt to Lifestyle Changes Such as Marriage, Divorce and Children Moving

If you get married or divorced, or if children move out of your home, there may be a significant change in the personal possessions in your home. After such an occasion you will need to evaluate whether your
insurance policy needs amending.

Safety or Security Features Could Mean Discounts

When you install certain safety features or security devices and alarms in your home or improve the electrical wiring, heating system or plumbing, you may be eligible to receive a discount on your premium.

Your insurance agent can be a great help for you as you consider how your insurance needs may have changed. A knowledgeable agent will point out the options available to you and help you to make the best
choices for your particular circumstances. Knowing that you have adequate insurance coverage to protect your valuable possessions will give you peace of mind and a feeling of security.

Since the relatively recent introduction of the internet, ecommerce is a hugely popular way to work from home. Check out the following simple steps on how to make your ecommerce site more profitable:

Apply SEO to your site

SEO works in a similar way to a jigsaw puzzle; if one piece is missing then it simply won’t work to its optimum level. The importance of SEO is undeniable as figures consistently show that website-searchers predominantly click through to the websites that appear in the top 5 listings, making it essential that your website appears on the elusive first page, week in, week out. Good ecommerce templates are necessary for creating your online shop and optimising your shop regularly is the simplest way to encourage better revenue.

Engage in social media

Twittering about your business and updating your Facebook status to promote your company is all the rage and if you have no idea what this means; then it’s time to explore the unlimited realms of social media. Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Digg it, LinkedIn and Bebo are some of the most popular social networking sites and using them to your advantage is essential in the current world of ecommerce.

Post updates about new products or ‘Tweet’ about a sale or promotion and the world is literally at your fingertips! Careful not to spam, social media is more about being social than being a sales person.

Increasing conversions

This is a complex subject and involves the application of many techniques but there are a few hard and fast rules that should be applied to all ecommerce businesses when it comes to improving your site-visitors-to-new-customer conversation rates.

Make sure customers can checkout without registering

Make links look like links by colouring and underlining them to ensure more people will follow them

Use links throughout the main body of text i.e. if you talk about subscribing to your site include a link to the subscription page

Customise your 404 redirect page so that if a customer finds a broken link, they are not given the same message as every other website. Instead they are given a customised message from your website offering ways back to your pages

Show prices as there is nothing more worth clicking out of one website and into another for than if you are unable to find prices with ease!

Make shipping prices easy to find

There are lots of ways to improve your profits but ultimately it’s about learning a lot and working hard.

I was… Learn how a Cross Country Trip changed the way I run my business!!!

After traveling well over 6300 miles to the Pacific and back, I wanted to share with you the insights I learned on my way out West while running the Annex. Prior to leaving, I always seemed to have a to do list that would give birth and multiply each and every day. This seemed to be the reason why I could never get any of my work done. Almost like a broken record, I seemed to carry over my projects into the next day which led to next week, in turn, led to the next month. Being on the road shackled me from being on the Internet for the most part and I had to figure out how to get work completed without me in the equation. What I learned was that the Team I had assembled at the Annex is more than capable of doing the much needed work I could never get to.

The first thing I had to do was empower my team to make decisions without me and then I had to give them the creative freedom to get things done. What happened next os the unvarnished truth! Projects that had taken me months to complete started to get done in a matter of hours. The Team was moving faster without me that with me. How could I have been in the Mastermind business and not have seen that I was the cog in my very own system? That cross country trip helped streamline my entire business by getting me out of my very own way.

The Annex Newsletter, The JV Catalog and other various projects were created while I was traveling America and visiting places like New Orleans, Oklahoma City, Santa Fe, Sedona, Flagstaff, Phoenix, Costa Mesa, Tucson and many more amazing places. When I got back, we had Gary Vaynerchuk keynote the Annex. It was arguably one of the best Annex events in history.

Lesson: Empower others to help co-create your visions and step aside!
