Creative Games to Play With the Family on a Rainy Day

You have this great day planned outside and then all of a sudden you get ready to head out and notice it is raining. Rain does not have to damper a great day. There are so many fun things to do indoors that could actually be more entertaining. You want to include every member of the family when coming up with games to play. You also have to make sure everyone is having fun and laughing a lot.

1. Categories
Everyone takes a turn naming a category. The category can be animals, colors, cars or anything that comes to mind. When the category is presented each person tries to name an object in the category until the last person cannot think of anything. This game is perfect for the whole family as you can make the category broader for the younger members.2. Charades
Charades is one the oldest games around. It does not require anything but your brain and some laughter. You take turns acting out something while the other members of the family try to guess what the person is demonstrating. Any age group can join in on this game.3. Board games
If you have a favorite board game the kids like to play, bring it out. Board games can be a lot of fun and they typically last for hours. Try to choose a game that everyone can participate in and make sure everyone is showing good sportsmanship.

4. Card games
Typically, card games are for the older crowd but there are some games even kids can play. Go Fish and War are great card games for younger children. In Go Fish, you match up the pairs and in War you try to have the highest value card. For the older members of the family, Spades and Rook are fun card games to play.

Regardless of what game you decide to play, make sure everyone is participating. It can bring your family together when you are doing something you enjoy. It can also bring hidden talents out of family members. This is a great way to teach younger children the importance of rules and good sportsmanship. The main thing when playing any game is to have fun and before you know it the rain will stop.

Are you planning a baby shower for a little boy? Not sure which theme you want to use? The first thing that you want to do when planning a baby shower is to choose the theme that is right for you.

It may be something that one of the parents really likes like a cartoon character or a favorite sport. Here in this article I’ll be giving you ideas for 3 cool themes for you to read over and decide which one resonates with you the most. Some of the ideas in this article can be used across various different themes with a little creativity.

1- A Nautical Baby Shower

Boys love sailboats and ships, so throwing a nautical baby shower is a great idea. The basic colors for this theme are red, white and blue. To start off your decorations, have a red ‘It’s a boy’ banner with navy sailboats at the beginning of the party entrance and lots of balloons all over the party. You can also have little baby sailor faces with sailor hats decorating the party. For the flowers you can have red and white carnations. Also, check out these baby shower flower centerpiece ideas.

For the cake, you can make a big sailboat at the top of two round cakes or you can make nautical themed cupcakes. To do this, make regular cupcakes and then decorate the top of them with white icing. On top of them, you can place a light blue boat with a sail, a red and white lifesaver or a cute navy blue anchor. For an even stronger effect, you can place the cupcakes on towering trays so that they are visible immediately when the guests arrive. Decorate the top of the tower with blue and red party paper. 2 -Surfer Boy Baby Shower

This theme is a perfect match for parents who love the beach and surfing. Some fathers don’t like too much ‘frill’ when it comes to their newborn boy and the surfer theme is much more ‘boyish’ than other themes out there. You can use actual surf boards to decorate the party if you have them; however if you don’t, simply buy surf board cut outs at a party store. If you’re not finding any surf board cut outs, try looking in teacher resource shops. They have many summer themed cut out bulletin boards that can be used for your baby shower and they’re very cheap too! Purchase some onesies and other baby clothing items with surfboards on them and have a baby clothesline going across a wall to decorate your shower. Invitations can be hand made in the shape of a surf board or you can just buy surf themed baby shower invitations and fill them in. Some favor ideas are surfboard shaped cookies or surfboard keychains. You can wrap either of them in pretty transparent paper and tie them with blue and green ribbons. 3- The Jungle Baby Shower Theme

This theme is one of the many animal themed baby showers that you can plan and will be sure to make your guests smile. You can start by sending out invitations that say ‘In the jungle, the mighty jungle, a baby boy arrives…’ Have cute animals looking at the new bundle of joy decorating the invitation. For the ‘sweets table’, have several animal themed chocolates on sticks in a green vase. Another idea is to have cupcakes with green icing and sugar animals on top. There are many animal print helium balloons out there that can be tied to the ends of tables and chairs. Store bought paper trees make great decoratives for the finger foods table. The best colors for this theme are green, yellow, brown and oranges. For a cost-effective banner, use paper plates and personalize your message. Each letter of what you want to say is written on the paper plate with dark black marker. To make this banner, you can use two different colors for the plates and tape the back of the plates onto string. Display your message above the foods table or in the entrance way. If you’re having a hard time picking out a baby shower theme, then choose an animal theme. Animals are always so cute and adorable. Here in this article I’ll give you my top 4 picks for animal themed baby showers.

1- My number one choice is a Noah’s Ark baby shower.

There’s something about seeing all those adorable animals in a big boat that always makes me smile. Of course this theme is not just about animals, however you can use any animal decoration with it and “go wild” with your imagination . Make your party adorable with pastel toned animals such as giraffes, cats, horses, monkeys, and panda bears. This theme combines well with blue tones. Here’s more ideas for a blue themed baby shower.
In addition to the cute animals, you can decorate the party with lots of rainbow banners, and rainbow wall decoratives. It’s fairly easy to create a large rainbow out of construction paper, (even if you’re not the craftiest person in the world.)
A good idea to save you time is for you to find unique ready made Noah’s ark decoratives. You will find these at Sunday School and Teacher Resource Stores. Look for bulletin boards and other paper crafts in that theme. You can also get Noah’s Ark themed pencils, bookmarks and stickers to put in your ‘Noah’s Ark’ themed favor bags. 2 – The monkey baby shower theme is a cool idea that hasn’t been overused as some other themes have.

If you want to use the monkey theme for a boy, you can go for brighter colors or you can use calmer tones such as yellow, cream and brown. Of course blue is always a great color to use too mixed with brown and cream tones. For the food, have many banana themed items such as banana cake, banana smoothies, banana bread, and even set up a banana split ice cream station. For games you can play pin the tail on the monkey, and have a banana race or scavenger hunt. A hilarious game to play no matter what theme you pick is the baby shower diaper game. With a little creativity and planning you can have a wonderful monkey baby shower event.

3- The Jungle/Safari theme is an all time favorite and although it can be used for boys or girls, it’s usually used as a boy theme.

Some of the wild animals you can use are tigers, lions, giraffes, elephants and bears. Other than placing adorable stuffed animals everywhere (that can later be re-purposed for the baby’s nursery), you can have lots and lots of paper trees on walls to create that jungle feeling. Another idea is to get artificial palm trees and put them around the party. Have vines hanging from the ceiling and stuffed monkeys holding onto them. Animal shaped cookie cutters can make your food be jungle themed. I used them when I planned a rubber duck baby shower for lots of different foods. You can cut the cheese, cookies, jello, and finger sandwiches with these. A great color palette to use with this theme is beige, light yellow, and light green. Oranges also add a more lively touch to the party.

4 – Insects are animals too, so why not use cute little bugs for a baby shower theme?

Some insect theme ideas are butterflies, caterpillars, dragonflies or my favorite: the ladybug baby shower. Of course all of these bugs are cute. Some people have used the ‘Snug as a Bug’ theme where they use various different insects and not just one. The ladybug baby shower idea and the butterflies baby shower is more feminine so definitely use those for a girl themed baby shower. Caterpillars, dragonflies or the ‘Snug as a Bug’ theme can be used for boys or girls. Make sure to have complimentary colors to the themed tableware that you purchase.

The fifth member of the gang costume is made in black with a padded muscles shirt and has ‘5’ printed on its chest. A toy gun is preferred as an accessory. The kids would be a game for saving the planet this Halloween gala.

Cheerleading is one of the most exciting girl sports of all times. Almost every girl fantasizes about being the top cheerleader in school and college. There are hundreds of fan followers of the popular cheerleaders. The reason behind the sports phenomenal fame is its attribution to physical fitness and association with the appearance and overall personality of the cheerleader.

According to recent health reports, cheerleading has been referred to as one of the most hazardous girl sport. It is believed that each year hundreds of girls and young women encounter serious health conditions due to this activity. The annual report released by National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research states that nearly 66 percent of catastrophic sports injuries occurred to cheerleaders in high schools. The cheerleading accident ratio has been remarkably high in the last 25 years.

Researches are of the view that this report does not indicate the correct number of the actual injuries that take place during the play. This is because usually, cheerleading injuries are believed to be temporary without any notable side-effects.

Cheerleading injuries have increased considerably over the last few years. The college statistics for catastrophic injuries indicate 66.7 percent of cheerleading incidents, which increased from 59.4 percent last year.

Dr. Frederick O. Mueller says, “ The reason why the injuries have risen in the recent years is due to the cheerleading stunts that involve gymnastic moves”, who is a researcher and professor of sports science and exercise at North Carolina University at Chapel Hill. He adds, “ The ratio of catastrophic injuries can considerably decrease if a competent coach properly trains the cheerleaders.”

Considering the high ratio of fatal injuries, it is important to keep young girls aware of the possible consequences and teach them some safety measures. In addition to this, high schools and colleges should ensure that they hire a competent trainer to minimize the risk of injury.

Ok now I know there are many Twitter accounts that use hot babes to try and attract people to their Twitter page, most likely the account is run by a bald toothless man named Bubba but this one I find particular funny http://twitter.com/annablake2 because 1) it is an Istock photo 2) They didn’t even pay for the photo and have the watermark still on it.

Ok here is the thing people it is cool (not really) if you want to pretend you some hot babe and promote your product it is uncool to not put any effort or creativity into it. You are so cheap and lazy to use an Istock photo with their watermark all over it. I bet if I read through this Twitter stream it is going to be plastered with all kinds of spammy links. Let me know if I am right.
