People are drawn to neighborhoods for a variety of reasons, but there are a few simple rules to follow if finding the right home is a priority and it is necessary to get it right to maintain a high quality of life.

If a gentler pace is required, a quiet neighborhood will be necessary. If you crave excitement and prefer to be in an area which is lively, full of restaurants and shopping, it is best to look for a home within walking area of a city center for taking advantage of this type of neighborhood.

How should a neighborhood be judged? Think of it this way: would you want to walk around the block, or up the hill in your new neighborhood at midnight? Because you may need to walk in your new neighborhood during these times, such as: in an emergency (the car stalls a block from home or you get a flat tire within eye sight of your own garage), or the storm knocks out the lights (you have to go to a neighbor’s home who has a generator for a hot shower), your dog gets loose from the yard at night (and you have to go looking around behind buildings and homes for the dog that went missing), or you are just returning home from a new resident block party (as you walk home during seasonal holidays from a new neighbor’s home up the street). It is important to ask yourself again, in reference to that new home, condo, duplex, apartment or condex: is this the place you will feel comfortable walking around in at midnight on any given night during the year? If the answer is yes, you may have found a great new neighborhood. If the answer is no, keep looking because you will regret being in the wrong place at the wrong time (even if that place is outside of your door during the wee hours of the morning – a place which you have every right to be in, truth be told).

It may be easier to work backwards and make a list of everything that is not wanted in a neighborhood. The new neighborhood is made up of more than just other homes, it includes land and people too! In terms of the land, it is necessary to consider the natural distribution of resources on the land (this means understand where the water runs off in a flood, and whether your home is at the bottom of a hill and will tend to flood faster as a result). The people already living in the area should also be considered when looking for a new neighborhood.

First let’s start with the other homes. You don’t want to live in the best and most expensive home on the street or the worst place in a neighborhood. If your home is the best or the worst home in any category, it may be a target for undesirable people who may assume it will be vulnerable to break-ins, vandalism or general nuisance traffic and trespassing. This includes people who may solicit door to door to sell scam magazines or painting services. The best option when looking for a new neighborhood is to look around neighborhoods carefully without being judgmental, and to look at how the neighbors around the new location keep up their property. That house across the street with the peeling paint and loose side boards today will be a real eyesore in a few years. Also check out the backyards as you drive around the street and see what is kept in those areas. If there is a yard housing old appliances and used cars, there may be unwanted traffic for parts on the main street as a result. If you find tall grass, unkempt dog kennels, rusty toys and bikes or other neglected or inappropriate items, keep driving since this is not the neighborhood for you. Also notice if there are loose dogs which could be an issue if you plan to jog daily in the area. Ask around for any natural wildlife, such as wild coyotes, deer, rodents, foxes (and for some New England states: bear, moose, turkeys and porcupines).

Next consider the other people living in the area. If the neighbors are people interested in mingling and getting to know newcomers, this may be a great neighborhood for you. Does the neighborhood have an informal or formal block watch program? Do they have block parties regularly or share a communal garden or walking trail? These are all appropriate questions to ask as you walk the beat to see if you might be a good fit in the area.

Find out if the area you plan to live in has easy access to highways and main roads, is planning to develop in the next few years by adding homes or duplexes, is near a school or is planning to do major renovations for sewers or adding green space.

Once you are armed with this wealth of information, you can make the most informed decision on which neighborhood you choose to live in, and be happy there for many years to come.

Eyelash Stimulator and Conditioner

So many women want luxuriously full eyelashes to enhance those mysterious windows to the soul. That’s why many of us wear mascara and eyelash extensions. And that’s why I’m excited about this fairly new product called LiLash–because it is just amazing how fast it will make your eyelashes grow longer, thicker and stronger. So long and thick, that you can leave your mascara and fake eyelashes behind.

Yes, you can still use mascara, and even lash extensions, to further enhance or decorate your eyes…but you won’t need to after using this product! In fact, mascara users love LiLash because it gives them longer lashes to coat. And those who are addicted to, or just plain love fake eyelashes, will often praise LiLash as a miracle eyelash saver because it strengthens your eyelashes, and helps combat the eyelash brittleness and breakage that often occurs with regular fake eyelash use. Plus, your new longer, stronger lashes will provide superior eyelash extension support.

I just love great products, and I love anything that helps a woman accentuate her own natural beauty. I actually just heard about this product because a classmate did a presentation on it in our “Marketing New Products” undergraduate college class, and she also happens to manage a beauty salon. She currently sells this product to her clients without making a single penny, just because she loves sharing the good news!

She says she’s seen marvelous results from this product, and has even had to trim some people’s eyelashes that grew too long for their liking.

A Little History

So I dug around and did some research on my own. I found reviews comparing LiLash with RenewLash, but they are basically the same product. You see, LiLash was originally formulated as a medication to help patients with glaucoma, and that’s when it was discovered it helps the lashes grow at an amazing speed. Thus, a safe, and very effective, eyelash growth stimulator was developed, and was originally called RenewLash by Metics. It was recently reformulated in 2009, whereby some paraben was removed, and it no longer necessitates a prescription. That’s also when the company, located in Scottsdale, AZ, changed its name to Cosmetic Alchemy.

LiLash Benefits

Longer, thicker, darker lashes

Changes may be noticed within just 4-6 weeks

Less breakage than fake eyelash extensions

Physician formulated and clinically tested

More effective and lasts longer than eyelash conditioners

Has a 90-day, money back guarantee, depending on where it’s purchased

One tube lasts 5-12 months

They don’t perform animal testing

LiLash Drawbacks

It’s expensive–about $140 for one tube

Some people report irritation to the eyes

You have to put it on daily like liquid eyeliner

It may take 5 months to see the full benefit

You might have to trim your eyelashes

The Main Tip on Using LiLash: Less Is More

It is still effective even if you use 1/3 of the recommended dose

You’ll be less likely to experience irritation if you use less

It will last you longer if you use less

Other Useful Tips:

LiLash should be applied to the skin, not the eyelash

LiLash goes on like a liquid eyeliner, applied daily

If you already use liquid eyeliner, then you’re less likely to be Irritated by LiLash

Start using plain liquid eyeliner for a few weeks before trying LiLash

If you do experience irritation, it may go away within a week or two

If you experience irritation, stop using the product

Improper application can cause irritation, so follow directions closely

Do not apply LiLash to your lower eyelashes

Give it a full 5 months to see results, as recommended

Don’t pump the wand in and out of the tube, as this encourages air and bacteria to get into the tube, which lessens its shelf life

So whether you like to bat your eyes seductively, or innocently…you want to improve your sex appeal, or just highlight your eyes’ own natural beauty–then this may be just the product you’ve been looking for.

When you hear the term “HEPA” air filters, most people are left scratching their heads. We are told that these type of appliances are a “good choice” when shopping for an air purifier, but how can we besure if we aren’t clear on what they actually are? Here is a beginner’s guide to understanding HEPA filtration and the many benefits it offers for air purification in your home and beyond.

HEPA filters, or high efficiency particulate filters, are a type of air filter which satisfies specific efficiency standards set by the United States Department of Energy. HEPA filtration technology is made up of randomly arranged fibers and it provides the filtration of much smaller particles than the traditional vacuum filters. Made of fiberglass, the fibers used often have diameters of 0.5 to 2.0micrometers. The diameter of the fiber, the filter thickness and face velocity effects how HEPA filters work. HEPA filtration systems are crucial to suppressing the increase of airborne germs.

Technology

The particles that are caught in a HEPA filter go through a sequence of three components, known as interception, interaction and diffusion. With the interception apparatus, particles follow a line in an air stream. Impaction is where the larger particles cannot avoid escape of the fibers and are forced to sink in the fibers. The diffusion function is the outcome of a collision with the gas molecules of smaller particles that are caught in the filters path.

HEPA Filter Uses

HEPA filter systems have been implemented into multiple types of transportation methods, such as cars, planes and trains. Only recent car models have had the HEPA technology implemented into their air systems. Home vacuum cleaners have recently been equipped with HEPA filtration technology. The system works with vacuum cleaners to absorb polluted air through the filter, while no air gets by the filter. This is referred to in the vacuum industry as “Sealed HEPA” or “True HEPA.” Perhaps the industry that most commonly benefits from this is the airline industry. Through the use of HEPA technology, the spread of airborne bacteria is lowered in planes. The air filtration systems used in airliners are compared to those applied in surgical clean rooms. Essentially the idea is to remove the bacteria and germs while reusing the air.

Due to the increasing concern of indoor air pollution, many companies have rushed to make a profit without the proper knowledge of airpurification. These companies end up leaving customers with filters that use the HEPA name but aren’t manufactured with the customer in mind. However, there a many suppliers that do provide affordable and quality HEPA systems. When you are making your purchase, it pays to be picky.

Out of 10,000 particles that pass through a high quality HEPA filtration system, the maximum of the 3 particles will enter the air system. The longer HEPA systems operate the more effective they become. Some filters use a ultra-violet light to kill living germs and viruses trapped in the filter. Most high quality filters are rated 99.995% in value by the Department of Energy.

Shelly Thomas is a contributing writer for AirPurifierGuide.org, a site that helps consumers make the best decision when it comes to choosing a HEPA air purifier system. One of the most popular lines available are the iqair air purifiers .

Elliott Jaques coined the term in 1965, and many studies on the subject have been done since that validate his theory, but also prove it’s not as prevalent as many would like to think.

True, 10% is still a lot of people. Yet I think many people who think they, or someone they know, is going through a crisis, is actually going through a realization. That’s my theory, or my take on a common theory, anyway. They maybe were wild as teenagers, then decided to live responsibly and raise a family, and now that the children have left the nest, they realize they can now approach life from a different perspective. So going through a little change is normal.

“But how do I know if I’m one that’s in that 10% range?” you may ask.

The answer to that is different for everybody, and depends on several factors. So let’s look at how you may be feeling, symptoms you may be displaying, and known stressors that might contribute to any predisposition you might have towards experiencing this phenomena.

Feelings:

Searching for an undefined, unknown goal or dream

Deep remorse that you have not accomplished your goals

Fear of being humiliated by your more successful colleagues

Strong desire to feeling youthful again

A need to be with only certain peers, or to just be alone

Symptoms:

Abusing alcohol or drugs (all of the sudden)

Unusual spending on expensive items, like vehicles, fancy gadgets, clothing, or body art

Pretending your average material items are top-of-the-line items

Persistent depression

Constantly blaming self for failures

Being obsessed with appearance (such as wearing the latest designer clothes, covering baldness, etc.)

Engaging in, and fostering relationships with younger folks (e.g, professional, parental, or sexual, etc.)

Increasingly demanding excellence on your children

Possible Causes–Problems with, Changes in, or Regrets about the following:

Career or work

Relationships

Aging children

Death or aging of parents

Physical body showing signs of aging

The above are just possible causes, and do not necessarily mean one is going through a midlife crisis if they experience any of the above. But if someone is predisposed to having a crisis, the above might add to the stress and contribute to triggering off the onset of an actual psychological dilemma that needs to be addressed. That is when you need to be most honest with yourself, and those who are close to you, and which might ultimately require counseling.

But remember, 90% of folks do not go through a crisis. It’s more often a stereotype that is erringly attributed to many, when in reality it only applies to very few.

We’ve all had moment of stress in our lives, and times when we were depressed or happy. Only you can know if the current state of your psyche is abnormally stressed, and if it’s more intense or prolonged than normal. You may not being going through a ‘crisis’ at all, even if a few of the above symptoms, feelings, and possible causes apply to you. Heck, some of the above apply to everyone at any stage in their life, whether young or old!

If you strongly believe that you are not going through a crisis, then power to you. And even if you are going through a crisis, I say this: aging is not a crisis, it’s a stage in life. Aging is a process, not a dilemma. I guess for some, maybe it is full of a heightened sense of immediate urgency–and that is natural, too…for some. But for most, aging is about changing. We’ve been changing since the day we were born. Life cannot exist without change. Try to embrace this change as an opportunity, and an experience, and a wonderful ride.

Sometimes what we call a ‘breakdown’ is actually a ‘breakthrough’. Instead of living a life where you strive for comfort, in order to avoid pain or stress–you’ve now decided that comfort often only comes when you’re willing to take a risk. Maybe you’re not avoiding and ignoring where you are in life right now–you’re embracing it!

So go ahead:

Buy that new motorcycle

Get that sports car

Go sky diving

Take a long vacation

Follow your dream!

Does buying a new sports car take all that pain and depression away? No, but it still feels good to drive one! And you’ve been wanting a sports car or motorcycle like this since you were, oh, say…12?! Come on! Why not have some added joy in your life now? Besides, you don’t need a family car anymore, and you can now afford one…so go for it! Buying a sports car isn’t a midlife crisis–it’s a privilege! And even if you are going through manopause–so what!

You’ve lived a long hard life, and it’s not even half over, so don’t quit living it up now!

So buckle up, put on your gloves, and go find a good paved back road so you can really feel how the horsepower handles under your sturdy hands, baby!

You need to do all that you can to reduce fuel waste when driving so that your savings account doesn’t get sucked up at the gas station. Here are ten tricks used by hypermilers to get more out of each stop at the pump:

Always keep your tires at the proper pressure. This is one of the best ways to get top fuel economy out of your vehicle. Make it a habit to check your tire pressure every single time you stop for gas. Check your car’s owner’s manual to find out what the proper tire pressure is for your vehicle.

Put your car on a diet. Actually what this means is to remove all of the junk from your car that adds any weight to it. Not taking the baby out? Then you don’t need the car seat. Never use your roof rack? Take it off. The lighter the car, the better its fuel efficiency.

Challenge yourself never to touch the brake pedal. Okay, that would be safe if you took it to the extreme but the point here is to avoid frequent and hard braking. Leave room between your car and the car in front of you so that you can anticipate the need to brake and do so slowly.

Crack the windows when driving through residential areas. You want to keep your air conditioner off as much as possible this summer because it eats up gas. However, you reduce fuel efficiency when windows are open at high speeds. Use the AC on low on the freeway and crack your windows only a bit when driving in slow speed areas.

Don’t be a speed demon. Stick to the speed limit if you want to get the best fuel efficiency out of your vehicle. The only place you’re getting faster if you speed is the gas station!

Get your car serviced regularly. You want your car to be in the best shape possible. Replace the air filter when the mechanic recommends it. Keep on top of your oil changes. A well-maintained car is one that’s kind to you at the gas pump.

Invest in oil, not in gas. Get a better grade of engine oil but don’t bother getting the premium gas at the pump.

Review your regular route. Does the route that you take most often have lots of hills or always require you to idle in traffic? Look for a different route that is comparable in terms of distance but doesn’t have these gas-eating problems along the way.

Park away from the front of stores. If you park near the doors then you will have to idle for a long time and brake for the pedestrians coming out of the door. Park far away and you’ll waste less gas.

10. Park facing outwards. This means that if there are two spots then you should pull forward to the second spot. If there’s not then you should back in. This saves you gas when pulling out of the parking lot.

You will find a host of individuals just like yourself in the armed forces. The military provides excellent opportunities that few other pursuits offer. Each branch of the military has different training options. No matter which one you choose, get ready for the experience of a lifetime. Here are some reasons to join the military and change your life!

1. Education
The GI bill is a major factor for some when it comes to making the decision to serve in the armed forces. This bill allows military men and women to pursue a higher education for free. It covers a person’s books, tuition, and related expenses. Many people make the decision to join the military solely based on the tuition assistance that military personnel receive.

2. Travel
There’s no better way to travel around the world for little or nothing. Being a member of the military means you could get stationed in various parts of America or even different countries around the world.

3. Benefits
Corporate America can’t top the non-educational benefits that military men and women receive. Home loans, small business loans, and free lifetime healthcare are just a few of the many benefits that come with joining the armed forces, not to mention the nice signing bonus.

4. Love of Country
For some individuals, there’s no greater testament of how they feel about their country than making a career out of defending her.

5. Following in Family Footsteps
In some cases, joining the military is an entrenched family tradition. In some families, generations spanning back to World War I and beyond have fought in the U.S. military. New generations highly anticipate the day when they can take up their family’s proud legacy of military service.

6. Leadership Experience
Participation in the military is a great way to gain leadership skills. Not only can military personnel climb the ranks within the armed services, but they’ll also gain skills that are highly valued in many civilian arenas.

7. A Lifetime Career
The military is a great way to have a lifetime career that will provide excellent lifetime benefits.

8. Honor
Solemnity and a sense of purpose follow men and women in uniform. Serving in the armed services is without question about fulfilling a sense of honor for some.

9. Personal Challenge
Basic training and a host of other activities in the military present challenges that people typically don’t face in civilian life. Seeking to facilitate personal growth and maturity is a common reason individuals join the armed forces.

10. Becoming Part of a Team
There is a camaraderie among enlisted men and women, which is born from going through basic training and all of the other experiences at home and on the field.

The armed forces are an essential piece of the fabric of America. Men and women have many different reasons for joining the military and even more for staying in a career that serves and protects the country.

Have you ever found yourself simply forgetting to do important tasks? Forgetting to do things on time can cause a lot of stress in your family life and even affect your health. Establishing habits and systems can help you remember your tasks. However, it’s essential to take into consideration your personality type and your lifestyle when setting up these habits. If you don’t think about these factors there’s a big chance that the “systems” that you attempt to set up will end up not working for you.
Get Motivated
The first thing that needs to happen when establishing any change in your habits is getting motivated. Remembering to do things may seem simple but it requires a perseverance to maintain the habits. Every person is unique. Specific life situations, experiences and personal make up are things that influence us to get really excited about certain things and not so excited about others.
Discover within yourself what gets you motivated and focus on those things. Getting motivated is the reason why goal based ethics and setting goals is important . By establishing goals we can implement a lot more changes that are necessary for us. The last thing that we want to do, is start to make changes and then lose that drive. Without the inspiration, we’ll end up going back to old habits that don’t help us reach our goals. After you’ve gotten yourself inspired to make the necessary changes in your habits try out some of the following ideas so that you’ll stop forgetting to do things.
Answering Machine Cue
If you have and use an answering machine every day, then calling your answering machine and leaving messages for yourself will definitely work. This is the perfect example of what might fit one person’s lifestyle but not everyone’s. If you have an answering machine but only check it once a week (or once in a while), then calling your answering machine won’t work for you. You need to ask yourself if leaving reminder messages on your answering machine is a habit that you can realistically incorporate into your lifestyle. If it is, then this is a great option for you.
Email Reminders
Setting up email reminders is a great way to keep on top of things. Free services like the Google calendar make doing this very simple. It will email you every new event that you have scheduled. If you don’t want to fill your inbox with lots of email then I suggest only having the calendar set up to email the more important events. However, if you rarely open your email then you’ll need to establish the habit of opening up your email everyday so that this idea works for you.
Post it Notes
Visual people will work very well with post it notes. For example; I have several parts of my room that I have categorized for different kinds of notes to myself. The “prime real estate” (so to speak) of my room is the side of my computer. I call this “prime real estate” because of the fact that it is the area that I’m around most of the time. There is no way that I can miss a post it note if it is placed right there. I only post notes on the side of my computer monitor that need to be done with the next 2 or 3 days. I don’t post notes on things that need to be done 5 weeks from now. This makes it simple to know when there is a task that needs to be taken care of the next two days.
Other areas of my room will have post it notes for different purposes. For example; the right side of my TV has post it notes on money that I need to pay people or they need to pay me. These are facts that I need to keep handy but they are not as urgent as the post it notes on the side of my computer. They’re just there so that I can keep track of how much is owed to whom.
Prioritize Your Papers
Paper is the one thing that can get really confusing. Not only because there’s so much of it but because there are so many action steps that need to be done with each paper. Of all of the papers that we have there are certain papers that need to be taken care of immediately. If you can put all of these “immediate papers” into one priority action folder then the moment that you need to solve something they are all together in one place.
In order to find the exact paper that you need the moment that you need it, you need to know how to organize office files and important papers . If you don’t get your papers in order this will cause you a lot of stress and headaches. Creating a structure and establishing systems takes time but it’s definitely worth it. You’ll find yourself forgetting less and having more time to do the things that matter most to you.
My starting weight was 279 now I am down to 272. I was getting a little frustrated because I had been weighing myself everyday and didn’t seem like was getting much results however the past week the weight has come down.

I know some people say it is not good to weight yourself everyday but I have to for some reason and has become a part of my routine. I have been working out with my brother and after we work out we walk over to Publix and weigh in at the scale there. It is good because it is another half mile walk added to my routine and get to see my results.

I also got some great workout tips from my twitter friend who has a fitness blog check it out.

Well I hope I can keep up this pace and I know it will become more difficult and I would like to thank everyone who has commented here with all their support.

After High School and I turned nineteen I stopped playing sports and like most young adults would drink like a fish. So I began to start putting weight on very quickly, which at the time was odd for me because prior to that I would try to gain weight and I couldn’t do it.

So I weighed around 185-190 in my school years and am 6’1, then I quickly shot up to about 235 after high school and have gradually gain more and more weight over the years. I have never been close to getting down where my weight should be and have yo yo with my weight like most people who struggle with weight loss.

The biggest wake up call regarding my weight problems is one day I get on the scale a few years back and the scale register a whopping 295 pounds I was just 5 pounds shy of 300 lbs. At the point I realized it was not just a weight problem but a health problem and I needed to do something. I immediately went on a diet and exercise program and was able to drop 20 pounds fairly easy once I applied myself and put my mind to making the change to get healthier and I was able to do it and drop my weight to 249.

So what happen why wasn’t I able to continue to lose, well here is my excuse because excuses are the only thing that can stop you. We went on a trip to Las Vegas for ten days and of course ate at the best restaurants, didn’t work out and I probably gained back ten pounds back. I was never able to get back into the routine and the healthier lifestyle that I chose too, I chose the easy way out.

It is easy to get distracted in your everyday life when obstacles will interfere with your workout or healthy eating habits, this is the challenge in weight loss and I have rededicated myself to losing weight again and this time I will succeed. I started less than two weeks ago and have loss four pounds so far I am currently at 275 and I would like to lose about 50 pounds.

I hope you will be with me on my journey and if you are also looking to weight feel free to contact me for any support.
