They have captured many parts of the market in many areas but have failed to even make a presence in the social media market until recently with the release of Google +. In the early stages of social media, MySpace was the powerhouse but surely today we all know Facebook reigns supreme with over 752 million users. Now with the Internet giant Google attempting to enter the market we must look at the similarities and differences between the two to determine if Google + has what it takes to eventually reign supreme in the social media world. It seems like no matter what the outcome, this will be one interesting fight. We all love the story of how one rather eccentric college student went from zero to hero but we also can’t help but respect anything with the Google name on it. How are both fairing in this all-out war? Here is a brief comparison of current features, but chances are more and more will be popping up over the next few months.

It won’t be enough to simply know the differences that Google + offers, we must know the similarities also. We see that Google + did not try and circumvent some of the most popular features of Facebook as they have retained the “Like” button notion with a +1 feature. They have also kept the easy to use video upload and RSS feed which makes the Google + interface similar to Facebook. This makes it obvious that Facebook has not doubt inspired many of the elements in the design of Google +, as it should.

Now if we know that Google + has kept many of the popular features of Facebook then we know they are on a good track at taking them over. Of course this is only if they can correctly improve upon the features that Facebook lacks and if consumers find these changes to be favorable.

The most notable new feature is Circles. You can group friends into different circles, share statuses with only one group or all groups, communicate within or across circles. This feature offers users more privacy than Facebook which has been a key issue with the social media giant.

While Facebook does have a video chat, Google+ offers “hangouts” where many friends can be on the same video chat. This could be rivaled by the future merging of Facebook and Skype but yet today Google+ has this advantage.

Google + also boasts an instant upload feature compared to the picture upload of Facebook. It aims to be more aesthetic than Facebook’s upload features but whether it is successful in this is still questionable.

In summary, it looks like Google+ offers improved features from Facebook and is in prime position to win the social media race. However, only time will tell if consumers fearing change will be able to counter act these new features to hold control over the social media world.

Olivia Jones is an Internet marketing blogger and also a self-proclaimed computer nerd. She rarely ventures anywhere without wireless Internet service and is on Facebook more often than she would like to admit.

But a lot of bloggers want to reach even more audience than they already have. Writing a book always sounds like a complicated undertaking – a blog on the other hand is always less complex. With a blog you can write in small amounts and still get published. With a book there is a whole lot of writing involved that requires too much time and effort.

How would you like to turn your blog into something more appealing? How would you like to get more traffic? How do you make sure that your blog stays on the high ranking spots for a long time to come? These are questions that every consistent blogger struggles with. And who can give you better advice on writing a better blog than digital marketing guru Murray Newlands who has inspired millions of people through his personal blog site and now he is offering hid readers more information on how to make a blog through a free eBook download.

His book is titled “How to Make a Blog Book” which is an in depth guide into making your blog a complete success. Murray explains how you can employ various internet marketing techniques and creative content writing to make your blog a high ranking one on all those search engines. The book also tells you what you might be doing wrong if your blog still isn’t getting enough hits. The eBook is a great effort to give bloggers a chance to own successful blogs that attract the precise target audience. No matter how small a blog you have and how limited the number of visitors, you can change everything simply by applying these time tested techniques.

This blog book happens to be one of the most interesting reads about how to make use of affiliate marketing concepts in blogging and how to make your blog more interesting and focused. Blogs aren’t just a great way to express what’s on your mind – blogs can also be used to enhance your business and to make both potential and existing customers feel like you are providing them with reliable information. You can use your blog to intrigue customers and also to satisfy them – you just need to know what to talk about. The blog book also clarifies how choosing the right domain name can have a major impact on your brand and blog.

All that helpful advice from “how to make a blog book” will help you create a flourishing business out of your writing. With the right use of internet marketing tools like SEO, Affiliate marketing and Article marketing, this book can turn your regular blog into a successful money making portal in a matter of days.

I’m confused: why isn’t my website generating qualified leads for me?

I’m so frustrated! We’ve spent all this money with an SEO firm and we’re not even on page three of search results!

My boss has just asked me to formulate an outline to fix up our internet marketing strategy but I have no idea where to start finding solutions….I feel stuck!

When I sit down with them, there are a few common mistakes that the majority of the clients have made on their website:

the home page doesn’t identify what problem the company solves

there is little or no urgency in the copy on the home page

there is no suggestion made within the content of what the reader must do next to solve the problem

there is no visible or obvious contact information

the copy is written in one font style, size and color throughout the copy, and the copy is written in essay-style

Are you thinking that you have some of the same problems or have made some of the same mistakes? That’s okay. There are so many misconceptions among entrepreneurs and small businesses about what constitutes good marketing. Good marketing format – no matter what the marketing method is – includes:

1. asking questions to find out if the reader has the problem you solve

2. giving reassurance that your prior and current clients face the same problem

3. explaining how you or your business have helped others facing similar problems

4. offering assistance in a non-threatening, low-risk way

Bio:

A university professor asked his students to learn something about fish and write about their findings. Although somewhat sceptical about the subject, the students left the hall and spent the weekend writing. On Monday they handed in their work and the professor began to grade it in front of their eyes. To their horror, he looked at each piece no longer than 5 seconds and threw them in the bin, one after the other. After all pieces of paper were scrapped he screamed:

“If you want to learn something about fish, then sit yourself down in front of fish, observe the fish, and write what you see. The answer cannot be found in the library, on the internet or in the papers. It lies with you”

If your aim is to get to the front page of Digg then READ what’s on there and UNDERSTAND for yourself how this network work. Observe what type of content makes it and what doesn’t. Are these articles long or short? Funny or serious? Controversial or factual? Dedicate a whole weekend to observation.

At the end of the day, you are trying to sell something to these people (you are asking them to read your blog) and you need to therefore cater to THEIR needs. In short: understand your audience and know why they should be reading your stuff.

Who couldn’t use a little extra cash? After having a baby, I had one of “those” weeks that found me looking in the couch cushions for spare change. Not quite ready to start panhandling, I remembered someone telling me that the best place to start making money, is at home. Yard sales, eBay and Craigslist are white hot places to sell your stuff right now, so not one to go against the flow, I gave it a whirl!

What I Sold

I tried eBay to sell my jewelry, but there were so many large companies that would post so many items after me that I got lost in the mix and never even had a bid. Yard sales are great, but it’s a roll of the dice when it comes to weather, what type of people show up and if anyone is buying or just looking.

So I Googled “Best selling items on Craigslist” and that helped somewhat as I found that electronics such as video game consoles, laptops and the like are top sellers. But I’m a stay at home mom with a house full of extra clothing and furniture that I rarely use! To my surprise, after posting an area rug and upright mixer, I received 3 e-mails about these unused items within a few hours.

How to Sell Your Stuff

Being a Craigslist virgin, I was a little concerned about complete strangers coming to my home. So I waited until my husband was off work and scheduled times for people to drop by. I sold both items in a few days and posted another rug and car seat, which sold in 3 days!! I made $500 in one week and I am now hooked! In my experience, the best sellers have been furniture, musical instruments and kitchen appliances. A great way to make extra cash without even leaving your home!

I am not talking about comment links either I am speaking about links that they provide within their blog post.

There are two reasons I can think of why people do this. One being they don’t understand or are misinformed about what the tag is for. The other reason is they are trying to sculpt their pagerank.

The reason Google’s search query works so well is their system is built on “votes” or backlinks. When I reference another link in an article I am also telling Google this is something related to the topic I writing about. So if I reference a site by pointing a link to it, isn’t it most likely something I am adding value to my article? Why would I add the nofollow tag to it unless it is for a self serving purpose? Wouldn’t you want the same in return if someone linked to your site because they felt it was worthy enough to link to?

Here are some links where it is ok to add the nofollow
If you are linking to an affiliate link
If you are selling backlinks
You should add it to your feed link

I think people just try and get tricky and look way to much into SEO techniques. Even Matt Cutt himself says you should let pagerank flow freely. Just stick with the Blogging basics and you will be fine.

So tell me your thoughts do you agree or disagree with letting pagerank flow freely? Are there other reasons to add the nofollow tag?
