Wow it has been a while since I wrote about MMA so I figured I would again and provide you with my take to the bank predictions.

Rich “Ace” Franklin steps in the place of Tito Ortiz who is forced to remove himself from the fight after sustaining a neck injury. Franklin will take on the popular Chuck “Iceman” Liddell.  Liddell is not the same fighter as in his hay day but still has powerful knockout ability.The Iceman has lost four of his last five fights and again will face a formidable opponent in Franklin. After his brutal knockout by Rashad Evans I thought Liddell would consider retiring but apparently he has a lot more fight left in him.

Franklin is also a veteran of the octagon like Liddell, he doesn’t have that one punch knockout power like Liddel but uses his combination’s and quick kicks to keep his opponents off balance.

Much is being said of the physique of Iceman who is sporting some rock hard abs in place of his usual pot belly, but it takes more than rock hard abs to win in MMA.

I see this fight going the distance with a decision to Franklin. I just don’t see Liddel being able to land that one solid punch and knockout Franklin. I believe Franklin will will amass enough points technically to squeak out a win, but who the hell knows I have been wrong before. If I really knew who was going to win the fight I would bet all my money in Vegas. So tell me what you think about this fight. Who do you think is going to win and how?

The UFC 100 will take place but where else Las Vegas Nevada and is a star studded event with several quality matchups.

Frank Mir will take on Brock Lesnar in a rematch in which Mir was victorious in the first match but took some heavy shots by Lesnar but Mir was able to keep his composure and put a leg lock on Lesnar for a submission win.

I predict this one not to go very long and believe Lesnar will not make the same mistake as he did in the first match and will dominate Mir on his feet. I believe Lesnar has gained so much more confidence and MMA experience in just his few bouts after his loss to Mir and defeating the legendary Randy Courture. He is a mountain of a man and if he can defend the Jujuitsa of Mir and not get submitted he will come out the winner.

St Pierre Vs Alves

One of the best fighters pound for pound in the world George St Pierre defends his middleweight title against Thiago Alves. This would be the main event on any other card but not for this one.

Check back in Saturday night for the results and see if your favorite fighter won. I will be watching this pay per view event at the local bar , I better get their early and get a seat as this is one of the most anticipated fight cards of the UFC.

UFC 98 headlines with two undefeated fighters Rashad “Suga” Evans who is now the light heavyweight champion takes on karate specialist Lyoto “the dragon” Machida. Rashad Evans has demonstrated unbelievable striking power and recently knocked out Chuck Liddel in one of the most vicious knockouts I have seen and won the belt with a TKO of Forrest Griffin.

Machida is coming off impressive wins over Thiago Silva and Tito Ortiz. The question in this match will Evans be able to connect the power shot on the elusive Machida. Lyoto looks to show the world that the traditional karate martial arts can be on the top of the UFC and is very determined to win the belt.

My prediction is Lyoto wins a unanimous decision but don’t go bet your house on it as this is a tough one to predict and can go either way. I would love to hear who you think will win this fight cast your vote below.

The other fight I am excited about is Matt Serra Vs Matt Hughes as there is very bad blood between these two fighters that stem back to when the two fighters were coaches on the ultimate fighter.

This is one of those fights that can end up being three rounds of not to much action knowing Hughes is looking to ground and pound Serra and if unable to mount and put Serra into a vicarious situation could lessen the action. Serra is looking to blast Hughes and put a hurting on him from his feet with his striking power. I know neither one of these fighters wants to lose to each other. I am going to predict Serra wins this one.

This is the fight I have been waiting for the rematch of Brown vs Faber.

The first match that pitted Mike Brown Vs Urijah Faber was a match that most mma fans were expecting Urijah Faber to continue his dominance in the WEC.Well the mma world and Urijah Faber was introduced to Mike Brown who shocked the mixed martial arts world and took Urijah Fabers title in Hollywood Florida at the Hard Rock Casino.

Urijah Faber is on a mission to regain his belt and looks to redeem himself in the rematch that will take place on Sunday June 7th, 2009 in Faber hometown of Sacramento California. Make sure you check this fight out and you can watch it for free live on versus.

I believe Faber took Brown just a little lightly the first match and wasn’t anticipating the power of Mike Brown. My prediction is Urijah “The California Kid” Faber will win with a submission although I wouldn’t be surprised if Brown beat him again. Either way I think it is going to be a great fight.

Brock Lesnar defeats Randy Couture to win the heavyweight UFC heavyweight title. As the two man faced each other in the middle of the ring it literally looked like David fighting Goliath and we were not going to see the underdog win this match as Brock Lesnatr took care of business and knocked out the legendary Randy Couture after a referee stopage. Lesnar has quickly rose to the top in his brief MMA career and who knows what is next but I am sure he will be the poster boy for the MMA for quite some time.

The big bad mountain of a man Brock Lesnar of WWE fame now turned mixed martial arts powerhouse takes on the legendary Randy Couture in UFC 91. Cortoure is 45 years old and has beaten all of the top heavyweight contenders in his career and Lesnar a former collegiate wrestling star a relatively newcomer to the world of mixed martial arts only has a few matches under his belt in the octagon. Lesnar loss to Frank Mir after dominating the fight but made one small mistake and Mir was able to submit him.

I believe if Lesnar can keep from making any mistakes he will beat Couture easily. Brock Lesnar has too much strength and athletism against the older experienced legend Randy Couture. This should be a good matchup with a lot of action. I can’t wait for the fight.

In a shocking upset Mike Brown defeats Urijah Faber to win the WEC featherweight crown. Faber only had one loss in his mma career and was considered one the best pound for pound fighters in mma. The fight was stopped in the first round when Faber attempt to throw a flying elbow backfired and was caught by the powerful Brown with a quick right that hit right Faber right on the button. Faber went down and tried to cover up with his head turned to the ground but Brown was able to finish with a flurry of shots.

Ken Shamrock was scratched for his big fight against Kimbo Slice just hours before the fight card began. Shamrock opened up a cut on his eye and required stitches, the state doctors examined his eye and determined he could not fight due to the cut. As the pre fight Cbs analyst came on to announce the scratch of Ken Shamrock one of the analysts was Frank Shamrock who questioned the reason why Ken Shamrock was warming up so hard prior to the fight and not holding back and calling out Ken on how he could potentially damage the legacy of the Shamrock family in mma. Slice will still fight but against a replacement fighter Petruzeelli.

The mixed martial arts company Elite XC future is hanging in the hands of one Kimbo Slice, with a loss to Ken Shamrock could put the struggling company out of business. Elite XC has only real draw that being Kimbo slice who burst on the scene after becoming an internet sensation on you tube. People have gone goo goo over slice although most of his fights in back alley brawls are not even close to the quality opponents you will find in the UFC, WEC and other mma venues.

I guess the fact that he was once homeless and has a fierce mean look to him is what contributes to his popularity, I certainly wouldn’t want to run into him in a dark alley. Ken Shamrock has not won a fight in four years and was once the elite fight in mma in his prime but he is now 44 but I wouldn’t come him out against Kimbo.

My Prediction is Shamrock win via submisssion.

Chuck Liddell Vs Rashad Evans

Chuck Liddell set to take on the unbeaten Rashad Evans Sat September 6th and hopes to clear the path back to winning the championship back and prove that he still has plenty of fight left in him. Liddell is coming off a victory over Wanderlei Silva after losing back to back bouts against Quinton Jackson and Keith Jardine.

Rashard was a collegiate wrestler and grappling of course is his strong point. Chuck will have to avoid having the fight taken to the matt as it is unlikely Evans will go toe to toe with the Iceman. The winner of this match will likely get a chance at the belt and take on Forrest Griffin.

Evans vs Liddell Results

Rashad Evans defeats Chuck Liddell with a vicious knockout in the second round and will most likely send Chuck Liddell into retirement. This was one of the nastiest knockouts I have seen in a long time. The first round was mostly spent with Evans bouncing around the ring and Liddell trying to land knockout blows. Evans never tried to take the fight to the ground and stayed toe to toe with Liddell albeit very cautiously in the first round. The second round it seemed like Liddell was frustrated not being able to get to the quick Lewis, He got careless and left himself open after trying to land an uppercut Rashad Lewis simultaneously threw an overhand right hook that hit Liddell square on the chin and sent him to the floor in an instance. Referee Herb Dean quickly jumped in to stop any further blows from Lewis as Liddell layed unconscious on the floor.
