Ed Hochuli mistake

by Danny on September 21, 2008

I am sitting here watching all these NFL “experts” before getting ready to watch the Patriots game, They are still hashing over Ed Hochuli’s blown inadvertent whistle that cost the Chargers a victory. It is funny to me how we expect any game not to have bad calls or mistakes by officials. They expect officials to be perfect, well we certainly don’t live in a perfect world and it’s not going to happen.

Human error is something that will occur in anything we do. Everyone is a great official after watching a replay over and over and watching it in slow motion and super slow motion, these officials have to make a call almost instantly in full speed and in some cases the play is so close it could almost go either way. I guess if it happened to my team I would be upset and Charger fans are certainly upset but get over it already.

The best compliment to an official is to be unnoticed and Ed Hochuli certainly does not help his own cause with that, as he is one of the most known and popular officials in the NFL with his big guns and tight wearing uniform, there is even a website called What would Ed Hochuli do? My advice to Ed would be next game wear a baggy shirt and don’t visit San Diego for a while.

Does Ed still referee a lot of NFL games? I don’t seem to see him on TV as much after this incident.
