Tiger Woods to miss The Players Championship

May 8, 2008 · Filed Under Golf

Tiger Woods sidelined because of knee surgery on April 15th will miss The Players Championship. The players are unfazed and some players say it doesn’t effect how we prepare for the Tournament.

Padraig Harrington said, “It doesn’t change my approach, I’ve got to play my own game.” It’s true you still have to play your game, but a big Tournament without the best player in the game isn’t quite the same.

Defending Champion Phil Mickelson said, “When he’s in the field, certainly that’s the first thing you look at on the scoreboard, is what did Tiger shoot, where does he stand.”

“That’s going to obviously be different when he’s not in the field. You don’t have that thought.” Tiger Woods won the The Players Tournament in 2001.

The Players Championship May 8-11 at Sawgrass Ponte Vedra Beach, Fl.

Whenever Tiger doesn’t play in a tournament you can see the relief on the other golfers’ faces. Tiger is still the most dominant athlete in my life time.
