One of the biggest secrets to beauty is to regularly take care of your skin. In order for you not to get overwhelmed with all you have to do, take small steps, but be consistent. Create a daily routine of the things that you will do to take care of your skin and you’ll start to see your complexion improve a whole lot!
Here in this article, I will give you 3 things that I do on a regular basis that has made a huge difference as to how my skin looks. (By the way, this is a picture of me to the right so you can see what I look like 🙂 )
1- Drink Lots Of Water
If I only had to give you one tip to take care of your skin, it would be to always drink a lot of water. Although every one rationally knows that water is good for their health, most people don’t create a plan to actually drink the amount of water that they should. We all need an estimated 2 liters of water per day. That would be a total of 8 glasses.
Now stop for a second and ask yourself: am I drinking 8 glasses of water every day? If the answer to that question is no, then you have to figure out a system that will remind you to drink the water that you need. I personally have what I call a brain tracker. I write the word ‘Water’ at the top of my to do list in my brain tracker and write the amount of glasses: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.
Each time I drink a glass of water, I check it off in my brain tracker. That way I know how many I still need to drink to reach my daily intake.
Another idea to help you remember to drink your water is to keep a large jar of water on a small table or chair near your computer. That way you can easily access the water without having to get up each time you’re thirsty.
Each person can create the system that best suits their particular life situation. If the ideas that I’ve given you don’t work for your specific circumstance, then be creative and come up with some unique solutions. It’s all about testing things out and seeing what works!
2 – Exfoliate Your Skin Every Week
Often times when thinking about skin care, we get so focused on moisturizing, that we end up forgetting to exfoliate. Although we shouldn’t exfoliate more than 3 times a week, if we stop exfoliating all together our skin will lose that glowing aspect. When you exfoliate, you’re eliminating the dead skin cells and making room for the natural process of your skin cells to rejuvenate. You don’t have to use expensive products. You can even make them at home. I made a video where I explained my recipe for making a natural exfoliator at home with ingredients that you’ll have in your kitchen. Here’s the video for you to watch:
Other than the video I also created a printable to make things easier. You can find it over here at this post.
Whatever exfoliant recipe you decide to use, just make sure to put it on your weekly schedule.
3- Make Collagen and Hydrating Fruits a Part of Your Life
As we grow older, our body produces less and less amounts of collagen. This protein is responsible for connecting the body’s tissues and organs. It works together with elastin to keep everything running smoothly. Consult your doctor and ask him how much collagen you should take each day to supplement the natural loss that happens as we age. My dermatologist prescribed a teaspoon of natural collagen supplement a day for me. I mix it up with low fat yogurt and eat it every day.
Healthy and beautiful skin comes as a result of having the vitamins that your body needs. So make sure to come up with an eating plan that includes hydrating fruits such as watermelon, pineapples, cucumber and blueberries. There are even vitamins made specifically for hair and skin. Find out which ones are ideal for you by consulting a doctor.
I hope these tips help you on the road to marvelous skin!
